Huntington Park Courthouse Replacement Courtroom and Jury Assembly Room Project |
The dedication ceremony for the Huntington Park Courthouse, Replacement Courtroom and Jury Assembly Room project took place on December 11, 2003. The event was sponsored by Superior Court and attended by Presiding Judge, Robert A. Dukes; Assistant Supervising Judge, Peter Espinoza; Supervisor Gloria Molina; and Huntington Park City Mayor, Edward Escareno.
Consisting of a courtroom with jury box, a jury assembly room, restrooms, judges' chambers and conference room, the addition is approximately 4,900 square feet, one-story, and of modular construction. The new area is connected to the existing courthouse via two corridors of masonry construction, one for the general public and the other secured for the movement of inmates in custody. The Spanish tiled roof, stucco exterior, recessed openings, and landscaping of the new annex are designed to complement the architectural style of the existing facility. The project was implemented via purchase order contract for design and construction and within the approved project budget of $1.84 million. Both design and construction were completed over a period of 14 months. Management of the project was provided by Project Management Division II.
The enhanced Superior Court facility will now provide improved services for the community, located at 6548 Miles Avenue in the City of Huntington Park.
